After launching the project four years ago, Austrian steelmaker Voestalpine will start its new automated steel plant in Kapfenberg, Austria in the summer and fall of this year.
According to the company’s statement, the plant will operate gradually. In fact, they have already begun to apply cold tests on some of the equipment. Franz Rotter, director of the company’s high-performance metals division, said the new plant helps supply its customers with even better materials on the global market.
The new plant can produce 205,000 tons of steel per year, aiming to supply customers in the aerospace, oil, automotive, natural gas, and tool industries.
